One of the hallmarks of this city in which we live is, quite simply, the FOOD. With the town's multicultural roots and breadth, not to mention our star chefs and fresh produce, we could all go out to eat 7 days a week and always have a new, and often exquisite, experience.

This list of 38 Essentials includes old standbys, like The Rose Cafe in Venice. To me, The Rose is the embodiment of a decadent, lazy Sunday morning or afternoon, when I know all is right with the world and my only worry is when to order my next Mimosa. Ahhhh.

But then there's Petit Trois on Highland, where you could order steak frites and if they forget to bring you a knife you won't care. The meat is that tender.

I love this town. And I'm always on the hunt for things to do and places to eat. Keep an eye on this space for more....
